This is a testimony to the Goddess Guanyin: of Her mercy, goodness, and mighty power in miraculously intervening to save and sustain the life of an unborn child.
X and her husband, D, had always wanted a child. Great was their joy when they finally conceived after several attempts. However, the challenge to keep baby alive began almost immediately: X soon experienced bleeding and various complications, all of which indicated that the child might not live to be born.
A long-time client and friend of mine, X sought a Tarot reading days before her next scan to ascertain if her child was still alive after the latest bout of bleeding. The doctors had told her to prepare for the worst; the Tarot reading placed the baby’s chances of survival at ten percent.
There was nothing I could say, except to encourage the young mother to hang on to hope. But my heart was heavy, and despite her calm response, I knew that X was broken-hearted.
At that time, I had only just received my calling from the Goddess Guanyin, Whom I respected greatly, but with Whom I did not yet have a personal relationship. Guanyin has known and loved my family for generations: my grandmother and mother, both clairvoyants, have seen and spoken to Guanyin at crucial junctures of their lives.
But I was new to Guanyin, and had little idea of how best to approach a Goddess or build a relationship with Her. All I had was a little faith, and a calling that I didn’t know what to do with.
All I could do was pray.
Days passed; then it was time for the scan. I prayed in silence; X went forward bravely with the scan, the tears dried on her face.
The results of the scan showed that the baby was still alive.
That was when we knew: the Goddess was watching over this child, and by Her grace, the child would live.
But the course of true faith never did run smooth. For our faith in the Goddess to grow, there were hurdles to overcome.
The following months of X’s pregnancy were an endless roller-coaster of emotional highs and lows. Hope clashed with fear, celebration with anxiety, and life with death, time and time again.
X would be rushed to the hospital several more times to deal with the uncontrolled bleeding. Each time, I would pray and await updates. But our prayers, faith, and X’s admirable courage pulled both mother and baby through each time, and pleased the Goddess greatly.
Finally, early one day in late August 2018, baby Kelsey – the miracle child of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy – was born.
Fingers and toes all correct. Healthy lungs for a baby to coo and scream for milk with. Rosy cheeks, and the sweetest smile.
Kelsey took almost nine months of tears, prayers, resolute faith, and a Goddess’s own intervention to be born on earth.
And Kelsey was perfect.
