On 9/10 September, depending on where you live in the world, Mars retrogrades in its ruling zodiac sign of Aries. Mars is the planetary ruler of conquest and aggression. Mars in Aries is explosive, to say the least; Mars retrograde in Aries will test those of you who tend to be just a little bit reckless and hot-tempered. Until Mars stations direct on 13 November, you are advised against starting new business ventures or starting fights: both endeavours are likely to lead to frustration and failure.

On 12/13 September, Jupiter – planetary ruler of luck, higher learning, and expansion – stations direct in Capricorn. Some of you may find an extra stroke of good fortune coming your way during this time, but don’t count too much on it. With so many other retrogrades going on, this little flicker of luck is likely to come with certain strings attached, and/or vanish as quickly as it appeared.

Nevertheless, hang in there! And now, let’s get to the reading stat.

LEFT: FOUR OF SWORDS REVERSED. Some of you may have been stuck for a while in a situation that seemed to defy resolution. As a result, you were feeling low-key anxious about this situation all the time. This issue isn’t so urgent that it constitutes an emergency, but it is disrupting your peace of mind.

The reversed Four of Swords encourages you to shift your perspective on this matter, and to begin actively considering what you can do about it.

MIDDLE: SIX OF CUPS. This card tends to represent nostalgia and an idealised past. In this spread, the Six of Cups advises you to consider what worked in the past, and to base your plans/solutions on the strategies that have yielded a consistently solid track record.

This card can also indicate that someone in your past could play a role in helping out, or could inspire you in some way to take an effective approach to your situation. However, be careful not to lean in too far with the nostalgic sentiments. There’s a reason why certain people, dynamics, and situations are in the past – and they need to stay there.

RIGHT: THE TOWER REVERSED. This card is one of those I prefer to see reversed. When the reversed Tower appears, you may be facing a situation that could easily escalate into a crisis, but this crisis can be averted by taking the right steps.

Be resilient, but also flexible – this isn’t the time to be stubbornly unrealistic. Bring out the pragmatist in you, and be aware that all life can change in an instant. Be smart, and this change can happen in your favour.

During the drought, the fields wither.
Thank Heaven for timely rains, which water well
The flowers, fruit, grass, and trees.
Such rain is worth its weight in gold.
(Trans. Tan Kelly)

This lot depicts a timely rainfall after a drought. When this lot is drawn, some of you could be facing a complex and difficult situation – but do not lose hope, and certainly do not give up. This lot signifies that there will be a gradual improvement in this situation; solutions will be found, and abundant outcomes promised for diligent effort. This divination lot echoes the energies of this week’s Tarot reading, in that a potential disaster can be evaded with the right strategies, and assistance from appropriate channels.

Have a great week ahead!
