This week is relatively quiet in the skies, but bear in mind that the final Mercury retrograde for this year has just begun (click here for a rundown of how its energies are likely to work out). So as usual, do take extra care with communication, travel, and technology; try to postpone new ventures (or reinvent them as soft launches) until the retrograde ends on 20 November.

LEFT: THREE OF SWORDS. This card represents the heartache borne of over-thinking, miscommunication, conflict, and/or separation. There’s a certain degree of mental stress whenever this card appears, as well as the tendency to repeat events/ideas in one’s mind ad infinitum – not healthy, and certainly not helpful.
If you’re in this situation, take heart: the Three of Swords looks menacing, but its energies are weak. The harm that this card appears to herald is easily addressed, and part of this involves exerting the discipline to break out of negative thinking loops, habits, communication patterns, etc.
You might want to keep your distance from people who encourage this kind of negativity as well. The next card explains whom to watch out for, and why.
MIDDLE: QUEEN OF CUPS. The Queen of Cups is a person who often means well – or, at least, that’s what she claims. (As a Queen, we are dealing here with an energy who is usually female, but this can also be a male in touch with his feminine side.)
The Matriarch of the Water element in the Tarot, this woman is a master of the emotional and intuitive complexities that make up each human personality. That’s what makes this person so good at reading people, and getting them to trust her; it’s also what makes her so good at manipulating them.
This person is by no means straightforward or simple – despite what she claims. She can be a good counsellor and friend (if she genuinely likes you), but is often a broody and over-sensitive drama queen. Be careful what you say to her, because she will remember every word and nuance, and possibly use it against you some time in the future.
She manipulates. This is her nature.
If this card does not manifest as a person for you this week, then be mindful of interpersonal dynamics and situations where over-sensitive and manipulative tendencies may emerge.
When this Queen appears, you may be tempted to daydream. Don’t.
RIGHT: SEVEN OF SWORDS. This is why. The Seven of Swords is the Thief’s card, and its appearance is a heads-up that a person or situation you’re facing this week is being less than honest with you. Things are being taken, hidden, and/or disguised. Not everything is as it seems.
So take nothing at face value. Fact-check everything. Stick to the quantifiable, and don’t daydream.
Some of you will be required to think like thieves this week. Your ability to create and implement independent, innovative, even cunning solutions will be tested. Let your maverick flag fly, and have fun!
