You know that feeling when you’re on the roller coaster and you’re on the precipice of the great drop and you’re looking down at the ground and it’s so far away and you know you’re GOING DOWN and there’s nothing you can do about it except scream and raise your hands in the air and enjoy the ride?
Come this 23 October, the Sun leaves the sign of balance and plunges into the sign of extremes. We are moving away from rational, detached Libra into dark, obsessive Scorpio. This year, most of Scorpio season will also coincide with the final Mercury retrograde, enhancing Scorpionic energies of soul-searching, repose, rejuvenation… and karmic
There’s a sting in every Scorpio’s tail, and a sting in every Scorpio season. The ones who are humble and honest with themselves, respect boundaries with others, and take responsibility for themselves… these wise souls will turn Scorpio’s venom into life-saving medicine.
The rest will die.
But even death is not the end – learn your lessons well, swiftly, silently; keep your mouth shut and your heart open to learning; you could well resurrect. After all, the highest totem of Scorpio is the Phoenix, the emblem of transformation and immortality.
I cannot over-emphasise this: Scorpio season is a time of profound silence, introspection, and transformation. The Phoenix-Scorpion despises smart alecks, gossips, and indiscreet people. Empty vessels make the most noise, and Scorpio energies will sink those ships faster than any loose lips can.
So keep all secrets. Play your cards close to your chest. Live a life of integrity.
Scorpio is ruthless – because it is pure.
Let’s get to the reading.
LEFT: THE FOOL. This is the first card of the Major Arcana and the first in the Tarot deck, a card filled with pure potential and a new life. The Fool is Number Zero, indicating that powerful new beginnings are on the way – when this card appears, especially as the first in a spread, you are advised to take that leap of faith and embark on that journey you’ve always wanted.
Go for it. Apply for that job. Ask that person out. Get that makeover done. You never know until you try – but the Fool tends to have luck on his side, and your chances of doing well are really, really good.
That is, if you heed the wisdom in the rest of this spread.
MIDDLE: SIX OF WANDS REVERSED. Upright, the Six of Wands represents victory after a hard-won struggle. Reversed, the Six of Wands signifies failure and defeat, due either to arrogance or insecurity. Remember that we’re in the pre-shadow of the final Mercury retrograde in 2019. Also, Pluto and Saturn are doing the slow tango in stern Capricorn, and will be dance partners for much of 2020. What this means: this week, and for a long time more, what you say and do will have the power to ricochet – and potentially kick your butt very, very hard.
The fall from grace depicted by the reversed Six of Wands can be spectacularly humiliating, as this card in reverse also depicts hidden enemies and jealous rivals.
So be wise – move forward with courage and integrity. Be neither too conceited, nor too anxious. Neither rush ahead, nor hold back. Pace yourself, and know your place.
RIGHT: THE EMPRESS REVERSED. The upright Empress is one of my favourite cards in the Tarot; reversed, be careful with blockages in your creativity, finances, and/or relationships.
This card sometimes signifies the presence of a problematic person in your life, usually either a woman or a figure of authority. The reversed Empress can be a school bully, a neglectful supervisor, a manipulative friend, a toxic relative, etc. Make sure it’s not you.
Sometimes the reversed Empress can represent a woman who’s struggling with issues related to female health, conception, or pregnancy. If this is you, don’t despair, or be shy about what’s happening with your body – seek medical advice immediately, and take good care of yourself.
GODDESS GUAN YIN DIVINATION
LOT NUMBER: 1
In the beginning of days, all good things are preordained.
The time is favourable; all is well.
To obtain this lot is no ordinary fate.
The Emperor himself will praise
Your faithful and upright ways.
(Trans. Tan Kelly)
This is a very special Divination lot – out of the 100 lots, this is the only one that specifically mentions the name of the Goddess, Guanyin, in its explanation. The traditional explanation states:
All things are prospering.
Good fortune is speedily on its way.
Guanyin will indicate this to you beforehand.
This week’s takeaway from lot 1 – yes, a lot that represents positive new beginnings, like The Fool in the Tarot – includes the following points:
- Have you been keeping your hands clean and your heart pure? Then have faith in what is about to happen. Your blessing is preordained.
- Don’t over-think or sweat the small stuff. The events that unfold will reveal “no ordinary fate” – the Goddess Herself will guide you.
- Again, live a life of moral integrity and uprightness. If you’ve been slipping, get your act together and you might still have a chance.
- Yes, there’s a real chance of reward for those who persevere in being decent human beings. The Universe is watching. So too are the “Emperors” – bosses, partners, clients, etc.
- No, this lot does not apply to the wicked, to shit-stirrers, to drama queens, or anyone who insists on living a low-vibrational life.
Have a great week ahead!
