This week’s big event in the skies is the solar eclipse in the 10th degree of Cancer. It’s a total solar eclipse that will be seen in most of the Southern Hemisphere, and will occur on 2 or 3 July 2019, depending on where you live in the world. Nevertheless, the fact that the eclipse is happening is enough to make an impact on our lives, whether or not we actually observe it.
This solar eclipse forms a favourable aspect with Uranus, the planetary ruler of disruption and individuality. The energies of this eclipse are relatively straightforward – eclipse energies work like a Universal reset button, giving us an opportunity to realign our lives with our highest and greatest good. It opens the doors to change and transformation, allowing us to examine our beliefs and actions as we prepare to make progress on living our best life.
It’s a good time to plan – not to act on those plans yet (this week’s reading explains why), but to set the intention first. This eclipse cycle ends on 26 December 2019, so it’s a good idea to align your goals with your Christmas wishes, heh heh!
Let’s get to the reading!
LEFT: QUEEN OF WANDS. When this card appears, challenges may arise but stay confident in your ability to overcome. The Queen of Wands represents an assertive energy, a can-do attitude that never loses its spark even when the going gets tough. Warm, friendly, charming and helpful, this Queen reminds us that we can – and will – live our lives with courage, passion, and flair.
And where does this Queen get her courage? Possibly from the One she’s looking at. The Queen’s face is hidden by the divination lot here in this picture, but I can tell you she’s looking straight at the figure in the middle card.
MIDDLE: THE EMPRESS. Every Tarot reader develops their own unique language with their working deck. My relationship with my deck is no exception, and we’ve come to an agreement that when the Empress appears in the middle of a spread, She is likely to represent the Goddess.
Be strong and courageous!
The Goddess Herself is watching over us as we move forward in our lives. If the notion of a benign, omnipotent female Higher Power doesn’t resonate with you, consider Her a manifestation of the Universe and/or the Cosmic World Soul. Alternatively, a nurturing figure of authority (usually female, but can also represent a man who’s in touch with his feminine side) could play a role in events this week.
What also works this week: self-care. Have you been running on empty? This week, replenish your soul. Take some time out (yes, you can) and do something that soothes and nurtures your body, mind, and spirit. The Empress represents the life force (she’s depicted as a woman who’s possibly pregnant) – while you’re replenishing your well, a wonderful new idea or solution could come to you. So go take that well-deserved break.
RIGHT: DEATH. This week brings a new season of transformation. In the Tarot, I’ve seen the Death card represent a literal death less than ten times in my career thus far – and I’ve given more than 1,000 readings, darlings – so no worries.
The Death card can be a good thing. Death is here to bless us with the power to end old cycles and move forward into new seasons of growth, change, and blessing.
The only way to approach Death’s energies is with courage and openness, looking to the Powers that be for assistance when necessary, as we forge our paths ahead based on the decisions we make. Remember what was said last week:
“Real change requires real action.”
Death waits for no one, darlings.
Either you act with the forces of change, or the forces of change will act on you.
GODDESS GUAN YIN DIVINATION
LOT NUMBER: 66
The road ahead is perilous.
Men and horses struggle to proceed.
Defeated, the army scatters.
The broken boat is hurled through wind and waves.
Daylight wanes; the frost withers the flowers.
(Trans. Tan Kelly)
Lot 66 is a lower lot, representing the Goddess’s protection upon us against potential misfortune. This is likely to be a challenging week for people who insist on clinging to the old, and resist change even when the signs are clear. Lot 66 depicts a broken boat tossed by the waves – an apt metaphor for our obsolete, limiting beliefs that no longer serve us, and which are ruthlessly torn apart by the forces of transformation.
When this lot appears, think very carefully before starting any new ventures if you haven’t gotten rid of the old cycle yet. With regards to new plans, you are advised to bide your time and wait out the storm. Some of you have serious life lessons to learn – best to learn them rather than run away.
When the Universe wants to teach, it’s wise to learn.
After all, you can’t outrun Her.
When lot 66 is drawn, take precautions against every danger. Consider a broken, sinking boat. If its passengers want to survive, they throw all excess baggage overboard, and start bailing out the water that’s leaked in.
Water in Spirituality often refers to emotions and energies. What negative influences have leaked in that you need to bail out, pronto? What baggage are you carrying that you need to hurl overboard if you want to live?
Big questions for the week ahead – have a great one!
