LEFT: QUEEN OF SWORDS. This Queen represents the inner power that becomes readily available to you, once you balance intuition with intelligence and integrity. The Queen of Swords takes no bullshit from anyone. The Sword in her hand represents the clarity of discernment – separating truth from lies, light from darkness, authenticity from pretence. She is willing and able to make strong decisions that bring about the highest and greatest good for all. Out of all the Tarot Queens, this Queen will cut out negativity from her life without a second thought. She knows she deserves only the best.
The Queen of Swords gives no fucks. This is her gift to you. Take it.
MIDDLE: THE HERMIT. When the Hermit appears, a major cycle is coming to an end. Spiritual learning, growth and forward progress are imminent. Introspection, withdrawal, and Spiritual contemplation are the order of the day. This is the Hermit, not the Socialite, so some measure of solitude is beneficial for personal meditation and growth.
the Hermit is here. learn your lessons, and get ready for new blessings.
RIGHT: THE SUN. Follow the advice of the Queen of Swords and the Hermit – here is where you end up, and what a glorious outcome! The Sun is absolutely one of the best cards to receive in a reading: it signifies complete joy, success in every endeavour, and victory in every battle.
Mounted on a white horse, the child depicted in The Sun is naked, but holding high the red banner of triumph. Look carefully at the spread, and ask yourself:
Can a naked young child win a battle? This is humanly impossible. Now look to your left – who exactly is this protective female watching over the innocent child, Sword in hand? I mentioned earlier that the Queen of Swords refers to your intuitive discernment of right and wrong. But the Tarot delights in multiple levels of interpretation.
Could this card also represent the goddess?
and Will not the Goddess Herself defend those who are pure in heart?
GODDESS GUAN YIN DIVINATION
LOT NUMBER: 93
Her plumage drenched by rain,
The phoenix is mocked by small sparrows.
But when the clouds part and the sun returns,
So will the full glory of the noble phoenix.
(Trans. Kelly Tan)
The traditional explanation of this divination lot reads:
Let petty villains have their day.
Noble One – you must hold back!
Maintain your dignity; bide your time.
Your destined good fortune is on its way.
(Trans. Kelly Tan)
Petty villains, liars, backstabbers, saboteurs, low-vibrational people – what the Chinese call 小人, or “small people” – are complicating a situation you’re in with their negativity. Have compassion for them – remember these are insecure, unstable people who only know how to protect their fragile egos by controlling or hurting others.
But does this mean you must accept their abuse? No, not at all.
This divination lot advises you to hold back – refrain from retaliation, move forward, and focus on living your best life. Cut out the small people from your life, for your own wellbeing.
As tempting as it seems, I do not recommend the traditional Chinese retaliation of 打小人 (“beating the small people“) by taking any form of revenge, sending back their negative energy to them, or in any way giving them the attention they desperately crave.
My reason for this is simple: we are none of us Gods or Goddesses. We do not know how to calculate, much less carry out, the appropriate karmic repayment for a misdeed done to us. Any retaliation would incur negative karmic repercussions on us.
There is a better way: Pray. Let the Goddess restore the karmic balance.
Unless She says otherwise, hold back!
One more thing, darlings. If there is one thing I know about this strange little thing called life, it is this: goodness endures, but evil self-destructs.
Leave the 小人 alone. Let them destroy themselves and each other.
But that is not your business.
Noble One, maintain your dignity. Bide your time.
stay your course and move forward. Your destined good fortune is on its way to you.
Have a great week ahead!
