A lot is happening in the skies this week! On Monday, 6 February, lofty and expansive Jupiter turns retrograde in Libra until June. Whenever a planet goes into retrograde, its energies favour a review + reworking of the dynamics it oversees, as well as the zodiac sign it turns retrograde in. As the Celestial Scales, Libra is chiefly concerned with harmony and balance in all our partnerships. A Jupiter retrograde in Libra urges us to consider – and, in some cases, reconsider – the value of taking certain partnerships to another level.
Time to reflect: are you treating others fairly, and are you being taken as an equal in a partnership of significance? Are your personal and/or professional relationships characterised by mutual respect and compromise, or power struggles and ultimatums? This Jupiter retrograde offers us opportunities to recalibrate the way we partner up, and set things right with important people in our lives.

On Tuesday, 7 February, Mercury (the messenger planet) enters hippie, humanitarian Aquarius. Over the next few weeks, expect communications – especially in the online domain – to enter a new level of intensity… the good sort, as Mercury is exalted in Aquarius (meaning it’s happy as a clam when hanging out here!). Energies are ripe for breakthroughs in philosophy, civic discourse + engagement, and all manner of activism that makes the world a better place. With the global political arena the way it is now, Mercury arrives in Aquarius not a moment too soon!
“Energies are ripe for breakthroughs… and all manner of activism that makes the world a better place.”
I’ll discuss the Lunar Eclipse in Leo later this week, in my weekend post – that’s another major event with tremendous energetic and spiritual outcomes for all of us. For now, let’s get down to This Week’s Tarot – here we go!
LEFT: WHEEL OF FORTUNE REVERSED. When this card appears ill-dignified (upside-down), setbacks may arise. Still, do remember that the Wheel of Fortune follows Spiritual Laws in the same way that a physical wheel follows the laws of physics. What goes up must come down… and vice versa. What appears to be a challenging time is often an opportunity to learn and grow; eventually, this too shall pass.
“What goes up must come down… and vice versa.”
MIDDLE: EIGHT OF SWORDS REVERSED. The encouraging tone of This Week’s Tarot is emphasised by the ill-dignified Eight of Swords. When upright, this card represents a situation where you might be feeling powerless, unable and/or unwilling to move. Upside down, the Swords that constrain you are losing their grip on the ground around you. Keep your eyes and ears open – opportunities to move forward are either present, or about to appear.
RIGHT: EIGHT OF CUPS. The message of this card is pretty straightforward – it’s time to walk away from the habits, mindsets, relationships, and situations that no longer serve your highest good. Something better lies ahead. Keep your chin up, and move forward. You’ll notice that the number eight is repeated in This Week’s Tarot. In Tarot numerology, Eight is the number of breaking through current constraints into a new level of stability. It signals the possibilities of the infinite; it’s also associated with karmic energies. Be kind to yourself and to one another, and do what’s right: the Universe is watching, and She keeps score.
“be kind to yourself and to one another, and do what’s right: the Universe is watching, and She keeps score.”
Some intensity ahead – hang in there and have a great week!
