Come 20 January 2017, Capricorn season shifts and gives way to Aquarius season – just as the new POTUS is inaugurated. The times, they are a-changin’. Whether we look forward to change or fear it, change is an indisputable fact of life: not a matter of if, but when. The question, then, is how we should approach change when it enters our lives.
“The question, then, is how we should approach change when it enters our lives.”
This weekend, let’s look to the sign of the times for our inspiration.
Let’s welcome Aquarius, the Water-Bearer.
Despite being associated with water, Aquarius is actually a Fixed Air sign. In the zodiac, the element of Air is connected with communication and the intellect; a Fixed sign has the added benefits of loyalty and tenacity.
The symbol of Aquarius, the Water-Bearer, highlights the humanitarian nature of this sign’s energies and gives us a clue as to how we can make the most out of the next four weeks. The Water-Bearer carries water, a necessity for life, not only to benefit himself but also those around him. The Water-Bearer seeks the greatest and highest good for all, working selflessly to co-create a progressive and egalitarian society. Aquarius looks forward to the future (hence its association with technology) and outward for the betterment of his fellow man (which explains its links to activism and the pursuit of a higher consciousness).

Even the apparent limitations of this sign can become strengths if wielded wisely. Aquarius is not the best at emotional connection, for instance. While this isn’t an ideal trait in itself, we all stand to gain when we take a less emotional and more cerebral, yet compassionate approach to addressing the many complex issues that are a huge part of 21st-century living.
So let this weekend be the start of a new and progressive you! The next four weeks are an ideal time to ramp up your participation in a worthy cause (or to start, if you’ve always been thinking about it). Yay activism and civil engagement! If you’re considering an investment in technology, this is a good time to upgrade your smartphone, purchase the home theatre system of your dreams, or get some serious work into setting up your new online business.
Also, be kind to one another. At the heart of Aquarius is service – be a Water-Bearer and do one kind deed a day, every day. Even something as simple as a smile at a stranger or dropping off spare change in a donation box – it’s all good.
“At the heart of Aquarius is service – be a Water-Bearer and do one kind deed a day, every day.”
Have a great weekend, all!
